Junction 8...

The salted egg craze in Singapore doesn’t seems to die down at all. There are still many restaurants and cafés creating interesting salted egg dishes. Personally, I’m a huge fan of salted egg and I’ll go the extra mile just to satisfy my cravings. Recently, I threw a “Salted Egg” party at home with five different types of affordable salted egg dishes I bought at Junction 8. So, if you are also crazy over salted egg, you might want to head over to Junction 8 to get your hands on these five special salted egg dishes!

It’s so hard to resist anything that is prepared with salted egg! The salted egg feast I got from Junction 8 is less than $60! So damn value-for-money!  Also, did you see the cute-to-boot Miffy thermal flasks at the bottom? You can redeem the ‘Yellow Miffy’ design on 8 September, and the ‘Miffy with Ballon’ design on 22 September. Remember to mark your calendar!

1) Bread Talk

  9 Bishan Place, #01-35/36, Junction 8, 579837

Mini Salted Egg Croissant // $1
For only $1, you can get your hands on the mini salted egg croissant at BreadTalk! Buy 4 get 1 free! Isn’t it a great deal? You can have it in the morning or after your dinner. Croissant was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The salted egg sauce was aromatic and fragrant. I can finish five on my own!

2) Long John Silver's

9 Bishan Place, #01-19A Junction 8 Shopping Centre, 579837

Salted Egg Sauce with 2pc Chicken & 3pc Shrimp // $7.30
Long John Silver’s is my favourite hangout place for lunch after school. You can satisfy your fried food cravings here, especially their chicken and seafood. Recently, they launched the salted egg yolk sauce set and I’m not complaining. The salted egg sauce was rich, flavourful and has a subtle spiciness at the end. Paired with the chicken and shrimps, this is super yummy! Also, I would recommend you topping up another $0.60 for the cheese dip! Damn shiok!

3) Pastamania

 9 Bishan Place, #01-37, Junction 8 Shopping Centre, 579837

Salted Egg Pasta with Soft Shell Crab // $16.90
The salted egg wasn’t too overpowering or jelat. Noodles wasn’t very dry as well. I liked how they added broccoli to balance the salted egg. Soft shell crab was well-fried and not oily. Overall, relatively addictive! A good supper too!

4) Dian Xiao Er

#B1-07, Junction 8, 9 Bishan Place, 579837

Golden Lotus Roots with Pumpkin (Mildly Spicy) // $17.80
This was legit addictive! My expectation wasn’t really high to be honest, and I mean how good can it be? It turns out to be amazing! The lotus roots were crispy, soaked with heavy salted egg flavour, also making it very aromatic! They were very generous with the salted egg sauce, and it wasn’t jelat. Definitely need a bowl of rice to go with it!

5) A-One Claypot House

Bishan Junction 8, Ang Mo Kio Ave 8

Deep Fried Prawns with Creamy Salted Egg Sauce // $22.90
They have a huge variety of salted egg dishes for you to choose from! I had a hard time choosing one and had to seek the staff for help! So, yeah! The staff told me I had to try this! He was right because the prawns were still very crispy even though I left it on the table for about one hours. Salted egg sauce was aromatic and flavourful. It had a subtle spiciness as well! Highly recommended to get this if you are having a party at home with your friends!
