W39 Bistro & Bakery...

If you are staying in the West and you’re looking for a quiet and cosy place to have your meal, W39 Bistro & Bakery is the place to go. It is also the perfect spot for you to fix your coffee cravings.

Hidden within Clementi’s private residential area, W39 Bistro & Bakery serves a wide range of modern European cuisine with a local twist at a pocket-friendly price. On top of that, they also have a huge selection of in-house cakes for guests to choose from.

W39 offers simple yet unforgettable dishes. I was relatively impressed with most of their dishes as well as the portion. Definitely value-for-money! A very good place to chill during the weekends!

Coffees here are generally good, not too acidic nor alkaline. They have a good selection of coffees as well.

Kimchi Cocktail // $15
Launched on 1st August, this Kimchi cocktail is unique and surprisingly refreshing. Alcoholic flavour wasn’t as strong as what I have initially expected. Eat the shallots and kimchi first before you drink. It opens up your palette with some spiciness before sweetness hits you when you drink the cocktail. Good combination! A must-try!

Chef's Speciality; Housemade Crab Cakes // $10
The fillings were well-mixed before they were deep-fried. It wasn’t too oily and the crab cakes were crispy and flavourful. Paired with W39 in-house sambal mayo, I can easily finish this all by myself. I would say the sauce is tuned towards sweet-spicy, which means most people can eat this without having to gulp down huge amount of water.

W39 Signature Baked Caesar Salad // $12
One of the few places that serve Casear salad at such an affordable price. Priced at only $12, the portion is considered relatively big. The salad was well-dressed, with generous servings of shrimp and did I not mention about how runny the poached egg was? If you belong to the health-conscious crowd, you might want to get this!

Sake Mussels & Bread // $12
The mussels were fresh and sweet, and has a very subtle sake flavour. Broth was really flavourful. Dip the bread into the broth and eat it together with the mussel to achieve maximum pleasure.

Quinoa Salad // $8
I’m a huge fan of quinoa salad and I’ve got to say this was not too bad. For $8, this is so damn value-for-money. Again, the salad was well-dressed!

Poached Chicken Breast // $20
Simple yet so fulfilling! The chicken breast wasn’t too tough and it goes very well with the Chinese wine cream sauce which was not jelat at all. I liked the mash as well.

Pan-Fried Salmon // $22
This is one of my favourite dish at W39. The salmon skin was so crispy and the meat was a tad melty which kept me going bite after bite. You will also like the flavourful barley and corn risotto. The combination works!

Braised Pork Cheek Quesadilla
This quesadilla dish is deadly addictive! We were fighting for the last piece. The pork was well-braised, soft and tender. Dip into the home-made and my life is complete!

Chef's Special Assam Fish & Tumeric Rice // $16
Would have love it more if the assam was a litter spicier for me. Other than that, the assam was fragrant and flavourful. Oh ya, the assam was more of the sweeter version.

Like what I mentioned at the beginning, you can also get your coffee and sweet tooth cravings fixed at W39. They are running an attractive promotion during tea time! Go check them out!
